Synthetic Spaces | 8 June – 22 July 2007
A video work adhering to the broader concept of ‘Synthetic Spaces’, The Road Home alludes to the sense of loss, displacement and at times bewilderment – even anger – that the fast changing spaces of Western Sydney evoke. Want it or not, the rapid disappearance of homes and roads, to be replaced by McMansions and freeways, leaves a lasting impression on our psyche – be it individual or collective. It is a collection of individual responses of reverberating words intermingled with the broad and expansive landscapes, waterscapes and skies of Western Sydney that create an elegiac visual tapestry of loss.
The Road Home Part 1 is a collaborative video work between writers from the New Writers Group Inc, Parramatta and I.
The Road Home Part 2 is a brief and personal v-log about life on Windsor Road when stuck in a jam in the evening rush-hour traffic.
