Spat + Loogie are a Sydney based duo who have collaborated since 2001 creating several cross-media projects. They like to play at the nexus of live performance, video and new media. Often their projects involve untraditional relationships with their audiences, experimenting with interactivity and relational aesthetics. They have undertaken studio residencies at Performance Space and recently completed a studio residency at First Draft Gallery, culminating with an exhibition futuresearch. Their largest project to date is new! shop - an interactive supermarket installation using barcode technology, trigger videos and performance artists parading as staff. This project - with support from Next Wave’s Kick Start program, Australia Council for the Arts and NAVA - toured to Melbourne for the 2006 Next Wave festival, Canberra Contemporary Art Space and Newcastle’s This Is Not Art and Electrofringe festivals. They have worked as key artists on PACT theatre’s major projects Whistling Man and Gathering Ground. They are currently developing Holiday - a faux virtual reality experience.
